Thaicom 6 (Falcon 9)
6 January 2014 - Cape Canaveral Air Force Station - SLC 40
The Thaicom 6 satellite built by Orbital Sciences Corporation gets a lift into geosynchronous orbit by a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on a very blustery, cold weather late afternoon from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station at 5:06 p.m. on 6 January 2014. Note the white caps on the water caused by the high winds. Owned by Thaicom Public Limited Company, the satellite will provide communications coverage to Southeast Asia and Southern Africa, including Madagascar.
The rocket disappears into a cloud to reappear, below, briefly through several holes in the cloud deck before disappearing for good.
