The space shuttle Discovery was barely discernible to the eye and camera in the dark, overcast sky during a dusk landing at Kennedy Space Center shortly after 5:30 p.m. on 22 December 2006 to end the STS-116 construction mission to the International Space Station. Note the faint contrails trailing behind Discovery. The twin sonic booms that heralded Discovery's arrival overhead were particularly spectacular.
