A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched the eleventh Starlink mission on 18 August 2020 at 10:31 a.m. from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The rocket boosted 58 Starlink satellites plus three Earth observation SkySats (19-21) for Planet.

This is the sixth flight for this Falcon 9’s first stage which previously supported the Telstar 18 VANTAGE mission in September 2018, the Iridium-8 mission launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in January 2019, and three separate Starlink missions in May 2019, January 2020, and June 2020. Following stage separation, Falcon 9’s first stage successfully landed on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. The fairing for this flight is a reuse of the fairing that flew on the fourth Starlink flight.

The Starlink satellites will eventually form a constellation around the Earth providing global satellite-based internet access.

Water vapor condenses around the Falcon 9 rocket as it breaks the sound barrier.
Contrary to what it looks like, the smoke and steam exhaust clouds dissipate quickly.
