OG2 (Falcon 9)
14 July 2014
Space Launch Complex 40
Cape Canaveral Air Force Station
After multiple delays over several month due to technical problems with the rocket and its payload, the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket finally lifted off from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station at 11:15 a.m. on 14 July 2014.  The Falcon 9 successfully delivered six Orbcomm Generation 2 (OG2) commercial telecommunications satellites into Earth orbit that will be primarily used by machines around the world to communicate with one another.  This is the first delivery of what will be an eventual constellation of Orbcomm satellites circling the globe.
Note the little vapor cloud forming around the nose of the rocket as it breaks through the sound barrier.
