| A United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket lifts a Global Positioning System satellite, GPS 2F-8, into orbit for the U.S. Air Force. The Navstar GPS constellation of satellites provides navigation data to military and civilian users worldwide. GPS 2F-8 is a next generation GPS satellite providing greater accuracy, increased signals, and enhanced performance. Liftoff occurred at 1:21 p.m. on 29 October 2014 from Space Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. | |
