GPS 2F-3 (Delta IV)
A military Delta IV rocket lifts off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station at 8:10 a.m. on 4 October 2012 carrying a Global Positioning Satellite (GPS 2F-3) into orbit in these images taken from the beach at Cape Canaveral.
The two solid rocket booster motors begin to burn out.
ABOVE: The boosters have burned out and are just moments away from being jettisoned.
BELOW: The boosters are jettisoned and fall away to crash into the Atlantic Ocean as the Delta 4's core stage continues firing driving the rocket into orbit. The boosters are not recovered.
