A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launches the Army/Navy/Air Force Satellite Information System (ANASIS)-II satellite for the South Korean Agency for Defense Development to be used as a communications satellite by the South Korean armed forces. Formerly known as KMilSatCom-1, the satellite lifted off at 5:30 p.m. on 20 July 2020 from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Falcon 9’s first stage previously launched Crew Dragon Demo-2 to the International Space Station with NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley on board.

Following stage separation, the Falcon 9’s first stage landed on the “Just Read the Instructions” droneship stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. In a first, the two fairing halves were caught in the nets of the fairing recovery ships. The ANASIS-2 satellite was built by Lockheed Martin who subcontracted the construction to Airbus.
