Observations & Images
8 June 2007
Approximate age of fledglings in days: 72

A terribly warm and humid day shortened by adverse weather finds the little fledgling moving around the nest area while waiting for one of its parents to bring a meal. Here the little fledgling is about to land in the nest.
Unfortunately, simply being in the nest does not speed up food deliveries.
The little fledgling moves atop the dead tree trunk to wait.
Another flight around the area while waiting.
The following are two video stills. Here the little fledgling, top, and the female fledgling come together as powerful thunderstorms begin to move into the area. The nest is just out of frame at lower left.
The female fledgling moves to a new perch in the lee of a group of pines to escape the wind.
