Nest Building

THE NEIGHBORS

A dark, overcast day at the Refuge cut short by the sudden onset of heavy rain. The male Osprey was not seen till the very end of the visit when he was observed returning in the rain to land in the new nest tree. The old nest site had a swarm of visitors as the Robin invasion continues.
Just below the old nest site the tree is full of Robins.
The number of Robins observed today far exceeded the number seen yesterday.
Several times great streams of Robins flew past filling the sky with their dark silhouettes.
There must certainly have been thousands of birds.
The great flocks of Robins are a temporary winter phenomenon for they will retreat back north as warmer weather sets in.
This view, each dark spot a Robin, does not do the afternoon justice.
